Quotations

1963
The Mackenzie River Husky, first used extensively by the Northwest Mounted Police in patrol work, was in the main as large or larger than the Alaskan Malamute. We would say, therefore, that while some Siberian Husky blood may have been infused into the Mackenzie River Husky strain, it is more likely that larger breeds of dogs, with possibly the added mixture from the Arctic wolf, figured in the development of the Mackenzie River freighting dog.
